Il Gloster Gladiator era un caccia biplano di costruzione britannica, utilizzato dalla Royal Air Force e dalla Fleet Air Arm alla fine degli anni ’30. È stato l’ultimo e ultimo aereo da caccia biplano della RAF ad essere prodotto, ma è stato anche il primo a presentare una cabina di pilotaggio chiusa. Il Gladiatore Gloster è un soggetto insolito e raramente modellato. La versione Durafly di questo iconico biplano è una replica dello Shuttleworth Collections Gloster Gladiator Mk1 “K9785”, ritenuto l’unico esempio di aeronavigabilità che vola al mondo oggi. “K9785” raffigura i segni dello squadrone n. 73 che ha operato Gloster Gladiators alla RAF Mildenhall in Inghilterra dal 1937 al 1938. Il modello è realizzato in robusta schiuma EPO, secondo i consueti standard elevati che ci si aspetta da questa gamma di aeroplani RC. Come con la maggior parte degli altri modelli Durafly, arriva “Plug N Fly”. Ciò significa che viene fornito con una cellula facile da montare, un potente motore brushless 3719-770KV preinstallato, Aerostar 40A ESC e 4 servi digitali 9g preinstallati. È incluso un foglio di decalcomanie in vinile, questi dovranno essere applicati durante il processo di costruzione, questo ti dà la possibilità di utilizzare la finitura argento come base per creare la tua combinazione di colori. Una volta assemblato il modello, tutto ciò che serve è la scelta di un ricevitore a 4 canali o più e una batteria LiPo da 2200mAh 4S (14,8V). L’attenzione ai dettagli è superba dal cappuccio con vesciche, dagli scarichi in scala e dal carrello di atterraggio aerodinamico in scala con ruote in scala di grande diametro. Le ali a coste, la coda e la fusoliera a traverse raffigurano una cellula ricoperta di tessuto e gli alloggiamenti delle mitragliatrici con vesciche rendono questo modello che sarai orgoglioso di possedere. Vengono forniti anche cavi volanti in scala, il modello può essere pilotato con o senza di essi, ma aggiungono quel tocco di scala realistico al Gladiatore. Il Gladiatore ha caratteristiche di manovrabilità molto benigne con uno stallo quasi inesistente e, a metà potenza, vola in modo molto simile a una scala. A piena potenza diventa un modello sportivo molto agile e acrobatico, si possono eseguire grandi loop, rolli assiali e persino a lama di coltello, è molto divertente volare. Quindi non è solo per gli appassionati di scala, ma piacerà anche ai piloti sportivi. Gli anni ’30 furono l’età d’oro dell’aviazione, cattura questi giorni felici con il bellissimo Durafly Gloster Gladiator.
