Empire RC Raceway of Brentwood, California held their annual Harvest Classic race last weekend, attracting over 100 entries for the multiple 1/8th off-road and single 4×4 SCT classes. In Expert Nitro Buggy it was Kyosho’s CJ Jelin with the overall TQ from Team Associated’s Gonzalo Cortez on the runner-up spot. In the 45-minute main there was some close battling in the first couple laps for the top spot between the top guys. When everything got more spread out Kyle Turner (Xray) and CJ Jelin had a good battle going back and forth once again for about ten to 15 minutes until CJ had a mechanical problem. Throughout the main Kyle had a pretty consistent run, mixed with some mistakes, but he still drove pretty well and ended up taking the win in the end as Gonzalo came in 2nd, some four laps down and Steve Noack (Kyosho) came in 3rd, another three laps behind.
In E-Buggy Kyle managed to TQ the first and third round of qualifying to take the overall TQ. For the main event, Kyle and 2nd place qualifier, CJ Jelin were battling back and forth for the majority of the race, both of them having minimal mistakes, but Kyle would take the win by about a couple seconds in the end, leaving behind CJ in 2nd and Bryce Beaver (TLR) in 3rd.
