After several weeks of gloomy skies, wet weather and cold temperatures, the midwestern early-winter broke for a fantastic Sunday afternoon. The weather was so nice that I did something that I haven’t for quite a while- went on a Missouri River trail run. My “White Wolf” Traxxas TRX-4 Sport was just dying to hit a […]

JConcepts Octagons 2.2” silver compound buggy tyres
JConcepts have announced the release of their popular Octagons 2.2” buggy tyres in “silver” compound. Developed for high-bite slick tyre racing, the tyres feature a heavy X-pattern style inner ribbing for increased support while the continuous thickness carcass is lightweight and utilises the industry standard 2.2” mounting bead. Like the name suggests, the embossed tread which is Octagon-shaped is repeated and overlapped to form a subculture of grippy surface edges for dry or abrasive surfaces. The Octagons are available as 2WD front, 4WD front and 2WD/4WD rear variant in aqua, green, black, gold and now also silver compound to match just about any racing surface. Each package includes the Dirt-Tech inserts.

Rebellion-RC T4F Crossflex chassis & shock towers
Rebellion-RC have released first teaser images of their forthcoming new Crossflex aluminium chassis and update carbon fibre shock towers for the popular Xray T4F FWD touring car. Starting with the chassis, it is machined from high-quality aluminium and features Rebellion-RC’s signature Crossflex technology that allows to add brass inserts for the lowers possible centre of gravity while enabling the drivers to fine-tune chassis flex by using different amounts of screw to tighten down the inserts. The chassis alone weighs in at 98g with the fully brass’ed up variant weighing in at 164g. The design of the chassis allows for three different battery positions such as front right inline, centre transversal and rear transversal – the latter has been made possible thanks to additional carbon fibre “wings”. The chassis seen here is a prototype with the actual main plate coming black anodised and laser-engraved.
As for the carbon fibre shock towers, the updated front shock stay features two additional shock mounting positions that allow to run more inclined shock positions while milled out sections make it possible to route the motor wires through the shock tower for a more tidy setup. The rear tower mimics the T4’s shock positions and it utilises Xray X1 caster inserts for the body posts, allowing for easy body height adjustments. All parts will become available from mid to end of December.

T-Works roll out new EB410.2 optionals
T-Works have announced the release of new optional parts for the Tekno RC EB410.2 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. First up is a 64 grade titanium shock standoff set that replaces the standard steel parts for lighter yet sturdy items that also add some visual impact due to their natural silver colour finish. The standoffs come in sets of four and due to their lower weight, they will help to lower the buggy’s overall centre of gravity which helps especially in high-bite track conditions.
Also new is a 16-piece 64 grade titanium ball end set that reduces unsprung and overall weight while adding visual impact and corrosion resistance. Another piece de resistance so to speak is the stainless steel front chassis skid protector set that is a direct fit for the standard EB410.2 chassis, helping to reduce chassis wear when racing on highly abrasive surfaces. The skid plates are laser-engraved for easy identification and they come in sets of two. Last but not least are two screw sets, a 86-piece UFO head titanium kit and a 110-piece gold-colour steel screw set. Both look cool with the titanium fasteners reducing overall chassis weight.

Exotek 22 5.0 2-colour aluminium motor plate
Exotek have introduce their new 2-colour aluminium motor plate for the TLR 22 5.0 off-road platform utilising laydown gearboxes. The customised polished black base with silver chamfered accents stands out with its bright silver edges to match the new 5.0 look. The built-in gear cover is stronger than the stock plastic cover to ensure that the body does not press the cover onto the spur gear in hard tumbles and included with the lightweight motor plate, that weighs in at 11g, is an alloy gearbox spacer. The motor plate is usable with all TLR 22 5.0 and 22 4.0 series buggies and trucks using the laydown transmission.

Mibosport Cup Rd3 – Report
The third round of the 2019/20 Mibosport Cup was held last weekend at its usual venue, the Hotel Sport in Hrotovice, Czech Republic. The event marked the season climax and the final round of this year with everyone being in Christmas mood already. Getting to the venue was less of a fun affair due to icy road conditions on Friday, this however did not affect action on the track as more than 200 drivers from as far as the UK and Denmark found their way to the Czech Republic. Both the on-road and off-road tracks were ready on Friday so the free practice starting at 4 o’clock in the afternoon would kick off with no issues. The grip level was enormous so there was some room to improve setup somehow to adapt to conditions. In the premier on-road class of Touring Car Modified Matej Sulc cemented his role as the pre-event favourite and showed just the rear part of his car. Mads Koue, coming all the way from Denmark, ended up with a nice 2nd place right in front of Kuba Simurda. Brano Panak was another surprise as he finished 4th and Petr Grof completed the top 5.
In Pro Stock Radko Cernohous did a brilliant job and despite Friday’s practise absence he took the overall TQ and victory. Simon Horak was too far away to compete with him, so he had to settle for 2nd position as Karel Kratochvil finished 3rd. Jan Gehrig had shown up in Hrotovice after a long time period finishing 4th and Marton Toth finished 5th.
In GT Stock 17.5T and with the absence of Ales Pelikan, who won two previous rounds, others had the chance to reach a first victory in this class. Ivo Gombik took the TQ, but Günter Krausgruber was just faster in finals. Ivo finished 2nd in the end and Dominik Stangl ended up in 3rd.
In FWD Alexander Mayer snatched the victory for the second time this season. Werner Spannbruckner was really a fellow to fight with. However, some driver errors cost him more than a chance to put himself in a top spot as he finished 4th. Michal Bok meanwhile pushed himself up 2nd in front of Roman Fiby. Marcel Dostal completed the top 5.
The Formula class promised nice fights as the competition is very tough here. Andreas Stiebler claimed the TQ spot and pole for the finals and somehow, he maintained it till the end. But behind him a lot of things happened. Lukas Hoch moved to the 2nd in front of Thomas Dvorszky. David Ehrbar finished 4th and Werner Spannbruckner did well as he came up with 5th position.
Over in off-road and in Buggy 2WD Modified Michal Orlowski took another victory. Being fastest in A1, A2 and A3 awarded him with the top spot on the podium. Martin Bayer did the same in style, just with 2nd place finishes and Max Götzl completed the top 3. Hupo Hönigl finished 4th and Bartolomiej Zambrzycki came in 5th.
In Buggy 2WD Stock Schumacher’s own Tristram Neal, coming over from the UK, showed that he is not only great at thinking about cars. He can drive them as well. And very fast, because he won this class by a margin. Hannes Mayer ended up in 2nd and Juraj Hudy finished 3rd.
Last but not least and in Buggy 4WD Modified Michal Orlowski dominated again. Martin Bayer ended the day on the runner-up spot and Max Götzl with Hupo Hönigl swapped their positions compared to 2WD Mod as Hupo finished 3rd and Max had to satisfy himself with the 4th spot. Adam Iszay finished 5th in the end.
The spirit of the race award went to Mads Koue and the Junior of the race award went to Vaclav Krizak.
