Teemu Leino TQs & wins at US World Nitro Cup

The 2019 US World Nitro Cup was held at Homestead RC Raceway in Homestead, Florida over the weekend. In the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan class it was Teemu Leino with the overall TQ from Uriah Murnan on the runner-up spot. The two would also make up the top 2 after the 45-minute A-main event with Teemo taking the win some seven laps in front of Uriah. 12th place qualifier, Jonathan Nunez would lay down a great drive to snatch the final podium spot in front of Dorian Tisdale in 4th.

Xray T4F 2.0mm aluminium main chassis plate

Xray have announced the release of their new 2.0mm aluminium chassis for the T4F FWD touring car kit. Machined from 2mm 7075-T6 aluminium and coming black anodised, the chassis will limit the overall chassis flex compared to using the standard carbon fibre chassis, making the car easier to drive in medium to high-bite traction conditions. The increased overall stability will ensure better car control while also adding cool looks thanks to laser-etched Xray logos.

Shepherd Team Edition v2 clutch

Team Shepherd have introduced an update for their well known Team Edition clutch in form of the tuning clutch Team Edition v2 which is suitable for the Velox V8.2 and other 1/8 nitro on-road cars. This updated clutch set is meant to offer excellent performance without any compromises by using Shepherd’s famous extra hard clutch spring as well as a coated aluminium clutch bell. Furthermore it is featuring a black anodised 7075-T6 aluminium flywheel, a shiny aluminium pressure plate, special compound fly weights and a yellow PTFE clutch shoe. This clutch will deliver consistent engagement and a powerful acceleration out of the corner. To complete the set high quality bearings and the needed fastening materials and shims are included as well.

Gonzales & Ashmore win at Top Gun Shootout

SDRC Raceway of San Diego, California held the 2019 Top Gun Shootout this past weekend, attracting nearly 270 entries. In the 13.5T Wheeler class it was Matthew Gonzales with the overall TQ and he also came out on top after the A-main, leaving behind Antonio Counsil in 2nd, some 9.4 seconds behind. Nolan Whitley would round out the top 3 some 2.7 seconds back. In 17.5T Expert 2WD Buggy Antonio Counsil took the overall TQ but it was 2nd place qualifier, Tanner Ashmore with the win in the 10-minute A-main event from Shane Borden in 2nd, some 1.8 seconds behind. Nolan Whitley came in 3rd to complete the podium result a lap behind.

Melo & Figueiredo win weather-affected Portuguese Cup

The Portuguese Cup was held in Torres Vedras this past weekend, attracting some of the country’s fastest 1/8th off-road racers. In 1/8th Nitro Buggy qualifying it was TLR’s Goncalo Melo with the overall TQ in front of  Kyosho’s Joao Figueiredo in 2nd with former EFRA 1/8th Buggy European Champion, Miguel Matias (Mugen) rounding out the top 3. Unfortunately the weather made it impossible to run the main final due to safety reasons and thus the qualifying result would also be the overall result for the day with Goncalo taking the win from Joao and Miguel. Over in E-Buggy it was Joao Figueiredo with the overall win from Goncalo Melo in 2nd and Ricardo Monteiro in 3rd.

Louth RCCC Schumacher Winter Series Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2019/20 Schumacher Winter Series presented by the Louth Radio Control Car Club took place this past weekend. Joseph Cocking would set the initial pace with his Xray in the Touring 13.5 class. However it was Mitch Fiddling who is best known for his off-road exploits who would take top with his Schumacher Mi7. Joseph Cocking would place his Yokomo BD9 Medius into 2nd ahead of Chris Lovely with the new Xray T4’20, Alex Brocklebank and his Schumacher and the Xrays of Callum Chapman and Jason Lovely the 2018 17.5 champion.

In the single final headed final Mitch would check out early on after a fiesty first corner incident involving the field. The battle for second would continue all race with four cars in the hunt. Alex Brocklebank would hold that until two laps from the end, allow Chris through to second, Nathan Winyard from the 5th place up to 3rd, Joseph would bring home 4th ahead of the recovering Alex. Callum Chapman and Jason Lovely would round out the final order.

Touring 13.5 final results:
1. Mitchell Fiddling – Schumacher
2. Chris Lovely – Xray
3. Nathan Winyard – Xray
4. Joseph Cocking – Yokomo
5. Alex Brocklebank – Schumacher
6. Callum Chapman – Xray
7. Jason Lovely – Xray

In the 17.5 Open class Peter Covell would top the timing sheets with his mid motor Xray. Harvey Greenfield would push him hard but have to settle for 2nd, Chris Chapman would secure a strong 3rd. Dave Greenfield would join his son in the A-final and Richard Howells returning to the touring scene along with Trevor Welbourn who would round put the a final listing.

In the A-final Peter wouldn’t have the greatest of starts and would to the back of the field. Harvey would seize the lead and never relinquished it to the chequered flag. Peter would come back through the field. Chris Chapman would be comfortable for 3rd, Richard would move forward to 4th, Trevor a strong fifth and Dave wouldn’t have the luck in 6th.

Touring 17.5 Open final results:
1. Harvey Greenfield – Xray
2. Peter Covell – Xray
3. Chris Chapman – Xray
4. Richard Howells – Xray
5. Trevor Welbourn – Hot Bodies
6. Dave Greenfield – Xray

In the GT12/MTC and Tamiya class, it would be the GT12 cars that would reign supreme. Last season’s champion Matt Cook would make a return to racing and he would set the tone for qualifying taking all rounds. Chris Whiteside isn’t use to second best but would have to settle for that on this occasion. Gary Williamson would edge out Craig Illingworth on this occasion with Paul Vincent making it a GT12 full final.

In the single final Matt would check out early and set the pace for this final. It would be a comfortable flag to flag victory. Chris would settle for 2nd. The battle for 3rd was a close affair between Craig and Gary. Craig would jump Gary mid race and take him the final podium place demoting Gary to 4th. Paul Vincent would have a lonely race and round out this final.

GT12/MTC final results:
1. Matthew Cook – Schumacher
2. Chris Whiteside – Schumacher
3. Craig illingworth – Schumacher
4. Gary Williamson – Schumacher
5. Paul Vincent – Schumacher

A depleted number for the Tamiya Euro Trucks at this round. Callum Chapman would dominate round from one of the series and continue on with that form. He would take a commanding top qualifier spot, Adam Jessop who showed pace to take 2nd, Richard Howells would be denoted to 3rd in this occasion, with Simon Babb and Ian Taylor dicing for order. Matt Dutfield and Young Charlie Jessop would round our the qualifying proceedings.

Callum would show pace as he has done all series long and get the hammer down early and checkout form the field. Setting the fastest laps along the way, the battle for 2nd was close between Simon and Adam, but Adam would up his pace and make his moves during the race to secure the podium spot along side Simon. It was a lovely race Charlie and sadly Matt dropped out of contention early.

Tamiya Euro Truck final results:
1. Callum Chapman
2. Adam Jessop
3. Simon Babb
4. Charlie Jessop
5. Matt Dutfield

Baird & Whelan win at NNN Winter Series Rd5

Round 5 of the Navan Nitro Nuts Winter Series was held held in Navan, Ireland this past weekend. Everyone got a great day of racing despite the threat of bad weather which never arrived. Racing was at a high level with battles throughout the field in both E-Buggy and Nitro and the latter saw Team Associated driver, Bradley Baird taking thew win from HB Racing’s William White in 2nd and Agama’s Derek Mc Closkey in 3rd. E-Buggy saw Colin Whelan taking the day’s win from Alan Thompson in 2nd and Conor O’Donavan in 3rd.

Bowie Ginting wins at Twister Year End series

The ARMI Twister Year End Race was held at the SDC off-road track, in Tangerang, Indonesia. The race consisted of 4WD and 2WD off-road racing in a Reedy Race format with both categories running a total of six mains. It was Bowie Ginting who sealed the overall win in 4WD class, a single point ahead of Rama Danindro who secured 2nd. Jason Nugroho would take the final podium spot from Ray Timothy while Adrian Wicaksono completed the top 5.

4WD Buggy top 5 result:

2. Rama Danindro – Kyosho/Hobbywing
3. Jason Nugroho – HB Racing/Performa Racing

Riccardo Berton successful at Baciccia race

The RC Off-road Rapallo track in Rapallo, Italy hosted the Baciccia race this past weekend, attracting some of the country’s fastest 1/8th off-road drivers. In Nitro Buggy it was Kyosho’s 2019 EFRA European Champion, Riccardo Berton with the overall win in the main final, a lap in front of SWorkz driver, Leonardo Valente. IFMAR World Champion Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) came in 3rd to round out the podium some eleven seconds behind Leonardo.

Ogden, Vail & Rivkin win at 2019 Fall Brawl

Badlands RC Supercross of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina held the 2019 Fall Brawl race this past weekend with nearly 190 drivers in attendance. The event was affected by the weather, making for some slippery conditions for the drivers. In the Pro Nitro Buggy class it was Mugen’s Cole Ogden who made the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ and win from Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin who would end the 20-minute A-main event on the runner-up spot. Team Associated’s Lee Setser came in 3rd round out the top 3 from Jackson Brunson in 2nd and Jason Scheffler in 3rd.

In the Nitro Truggy class it was Cole Ogden with the overall TQ, however the 20-minute A-main would seen Even Vail taking the win with a lap margin while Cole had to settle for 2nd overall. Austin Woodward came in 3rd from Spencer Heckert 4th and Bryan Kata 5th.

The Pro E-Buggy A-main results were based on qualifying and saw Spencer Rivkin (Team Associated) taking the win from Jackson Brunson (Team Associated) in 2nd and Tekno RC’s Jared Tebo in 3rd. Lee Setser and Jason Schreffler came in 4th and 5th respectively.

Adam Drake TQs & wins at 15th Annual Toys for Tots

The 15th Annual Toys for Tots race was held at Palm Desert R/C Raceway this past weekend with nearly 130 entries. In 1/8th Expert Nitro Buggy it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the overall TQ from Tekno RC’s Carlos Arredondo in 2nd. The 15-minute A-main event saw Adam Drake and Tyler Brown battling it out for the lead in the opening stages, however later on Adam would be able to establish the lead and from there he never looked back to take the win from Carlos in 2nd who ended the race a lap down. HB Racing’s Colin Herzig came in 3rd to round out the podium result.

Nicholas Lee TQs & wins at Arrowmax Cup finale

The Grand Final of the 2019 Arrowmax Cup was held at the AMA indoor asphalt track in Guangzhou, China this past weekend with 80 drivers and 90 entries in total. In the premier Touring Modified class it was Yokomo’s Nicholas Lee with the overall TQ and he also came out on top after the triple A-mains as he scored wins in all three legs, leaving behind Xray’s Dominic Quek and Infinity’s Viktor Wilck in tie on points in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ultimately it was Dominic with the runner-up spot as Victor had to settle for 3rd overall after the tie breaker. Serpent’s Hugo Nagashima from Japan came in 4th from Hong Kong based Stick King (Serpent) in 5th.

In the Touring FWD class it was Dominic Quek with the overall win thanks to coming out on top in A2 and A3 as top qualifier Fai Ho came in 2nd overall. 2nd place qualifier Stick King ended the day on the 3 spot overall.

The Formula 21.5T class again had Dominic Quek taking the overall win as He Han Bin and James Lee completed the top 3 results.

RC Arlos Factory tease new drift car body shell

RC Arlos Factory from The Netherlands have released first renderings of their forthcoming new 2-door drift car body shell. Designed for 258mm wheelbase chassis the body resembles a hopped-up German 2-door sedan, featuring a hefty front splitter, add-on wheel arches and a huge rear wing. The body is set for a release in January 2020 and more images will become available soon.

Alexander Landen wins 2WD Mod at Lucia race

The Boras Miniracing club of Boras, Sweden held the Lucia race this past weekend with more then 50 drivers in attendance. In the 2WD Modified class it was Alexander Landen with the overall TQ after winning three of the four qualifying rounds, leaving behind Hampus Berg in 2nd and Pontus Larsson in 3rd. Nils Gustaffson won the final qualifier but had to settle for P4 on the grid. In the opening A-main Alexander and Nils initially pulled away and Alexander was able to create a gap as well. A small mistake on the jump section let the other drivers close in, but Alexander never lost the lead and after he was able to stretch the gap again he was able to take a comfortable win ahead of Hampus and Nils.

The second final was a bit more controlled as Alexander was able to get in a fairly calm run for the overall win as Pontus and Nils came in 2nd and 3rd in A2. For the third leg the battle was on between Nils, Hampus and Pontus as Alexander sat out A3. Nils, who was driving really well, was able to hold onto the lead for almost the entire race, but a small mistake a few laps to the end allowed Hampus to close in, and he managed to make a pass in the jump section on the final lap. Overall it was Alexander with the win and fastest lap from Hampus in 2nd and Nils in 3rd.

Ryan Lutz doubles at 25th Lonestar Classic

Indy RC World of Garland, Texas played host to the 25th Annual Lonestar Classic race this past weekend. The event attracted 250 entries and it was Agama’s Ryan Lutz with the overall TQ in the Expert Nitro Buggy class from Serpent’s Brandon Rose in 2nd. The 45-minute A-main event then again had Ryan leading the way as he took the win a lap in front of HB Racing’s Dillon Caldwell as Jake French (HB Racing) completed the top 3 result another lap down. Tekno RC’s Tyler Hooks and Team Associated’s Brian Rohde would finish in 4th and 5th respectively.

Expert E-Buggy again had Ryan Lutz sweeping the class as the took the overall TQ and also the win as Brandon Rose (Serpent) came in 2nd, some 4.4 seconds behind. HB Racing’s Dillon Caldwell scored another podium result in 3rd with Tyler Hooks (Tekno RC) and Jake French (HB Racing) completing the top 5 results.

Over in Expert Nitro Truggy it was top qualifier, Tekno RC’s Tyler Hooks with the win from Team Associated driver, Brian Beck and Tekno RC’s Aaron Royston in 2nd and 3rd respectively. TLR’s Wade Moore and Agama’s Mark Morrow came in 4th and 5th respectively.
