Losing grip – first cut is the deepest
The first cut is the deepest, sang Cat Stevens about love. RC cars weren’t even invented back then, yet his words ring true in our hobby. Christmas is coming, winter is not. At least not where I live, on the southern hemisphere. Summer has only just started, it seven o’clock in the evening and almost […]

Sousa & Maiorana win at Drumstick race
The Drumstick race was held at the RC Clubhouse track in Warren, Michigan last weekend. The race saw around 130 entries which is a pretty standard for this race every year. In the 4WD Buggy A-main 2nd place qualifier, Xray’s Mark Sousa made a pass for the lead on lap one but then got together with the 2nd place driver and Mark went back to last on the first lap. However he was able to come through the pack all the way up to 1st and then slowly extended his lead from there to take the win from HB Racing’s Mike Valentine Jr. in 2nd and TLR’s Seth Rippee in 3rd. In the 2WD main it was Charlie Maiorana with the win from Russ Bryant on the runner-up spot. Mark Sousa struggled with a last minute setup change and ultimately had to settle for 3rd overall.

RC Maker T4’20 GeoCarbon bumper plate with stopper
RC Maker have introduced their new GeoCarbon front bumper plate with stopper for the Xray T4’20 touring car. The plate and stopper feature a stylish, stealthly and innovative design and the parts add extra protection to the front of the car as the support contacts the bulkheads and prevents impacts from snapping the main chassis and are very important. The design integrates the stopper under the main bumper plate, lining up with the bearing mounts on the front bulkheads. In the event of a crash, the force will be transferred through this and keep the chassis in tact, with minimal effect on the bulkheads. The brace recesses over the small bumper posts enabling it to get low enough to align with the bulkhead. When tightening the upper plate, it clamps the whole assembly down tightly. Upon resting, there is a 0.2mm gap between the bulkheads and this support, to prevent any rubbing and tweaking. The bumper plate also features three sets of holes, allowing drivers to adjust the bodyshell forwards and backwards as seen on the standard plates. The integrated stopper does not move, it will be in the same place regardless of the body post position. Due to the design, the plate can also stay in place when removing the front anti-roll bar.

The second round of the Winter Race Morava was held last weekend with more than 90 entries for the classes of Hobby, Formula, Touring Stock, Touring Modified, 1/12th Modified and 1/10 GT Pancar. In Touring Stock, Radko Cernohous took the overall TQ, but Simon Horak managed to get past him in the finals for the overall from Radko Cernohous in 2nd and Karel Kratochvil in 3rd, making it an all-Xray top 3.
The Formula attracted 26 entries with some Czech top drivers such as Lukas Hoch, Simon Horak and others in attendance. Ultimately it was Lukas Hoch who took the TQ and win with Simon Horak pushing him to the limit. The track conditions were really hard, low grip changed to lower grip and this was happening all day. Behind Lukas it was Simon for an Xray 1-2 with Serpent’s Tomas Sova coming in 3rd overall.
