The opening round of qualifying for the 3rd round of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity has been completed and it was Jin Sawada, winner of the opening two rounds of the series in Shanghai that was again fastest following the first qualifier. A low turnout at AMA, in 2nd place it was Chinese National champion Gary Hunag in 2nd with two up and coming Chinese Xray racers Marco Ma and Minhao Lao in 3rd and 4th respectively. Yugo Nakashima and Stick King both had problems in their heat with both suffering servo failures, the former during the run and the latter before the 6 minutes even started. Speaking to Sawada, the Infinity driver described the run as super difficult, comparing the ultra-high traction to that of teammate Akio Sobue’s home track back in Japan. Not a fan of the conditions, he said that just a tiny input on the transmitter resulted in huge steering, admitting that it was super difficult to complete the 6 minutes without a mistake.

Coming from Marc Rheinard’s MR33 brand are several new under battery weights that help to fine-tune the weight balance of 1/10th touring and off-road cars. The range includes a 28g 0.6mm weight for standard-length LiPos, a 20g 0.6mm shorty weight, as well as 50g 1.0mm, 75g 1.5mm and 100g 2.0mm weights for Yokomo’s YZ-2 range of off-road buggies. The latter three are available separately or in a convenient 3-piece set. Using the weights will help to optimise the chassis weight balance when using lightweight or low-profile batteries or when added weight is beneficial, such as running in high-bite or very bumpy track conditions. All weights are of a dark colour and they come laser-engraved for easy identification.

Following a series of teasers and insights on social media, Xray have finally introduced their all-new XB2 2020 2WD buggy kits. The popular buggy received a major make-over for the 2020 season with virtually no area being left untouched, be it the chassis, suspension or drivetrain. Aigoin Racing from France have introduced their new carbon fibre side guards for many of today’s 1/8th competition buggies. Moulded from high-quality carbon fibre the side guards are a direct replacement for the standard plastic or composite parts, offering greater rigidity, a low weight and overall improved looks. The side guards are available for the Xray XB8, Team Associated RC8 B3 and B3.1, Mugen MBX8 and MBX7, HB Racing D81x, TLR 8ight-X, and SWorkz S35-3 and S35e kits from now on and they include the required mounting hardware.

Infinity has further expanded its accessories line-up with the addition of a shock oil bag. Made in the distinctive Infinity black and red colour scheme and printed with the Infinity World Champions logo, the cloth bag is a solution for storing silicon shock oil and silicon differential oil. MR33 have introduced their new battery mount set for the Yokomo YZ-2CAL3 buggy. The lightweight LiPo mount consists of machined carbon fibre battery locators that utilise O-ring quick release mounts while the locators – and thus the shorty battery pack – can be shifted forth and back in order to fine-tune the car’s weight balance. Also included in the set is suitable mounting hardware.

Tekno RC have announced the release of a new tall wing mount designed to further enhance the performance of the new NB48 2.0 buggy. This wing mount raises the wing 10mm and moves it 12.5mm forward, helping to move weight more towards the front of the vehicle while improving roll characteristics. Intended to be used when racing on low grip conditions, this wing mount will reduce the mid-corner “pendulum” effect while keeping the rear more planted. The tall wing mount is a direct replacement for the standard wing mount and does not require additional hardware.

Yeah Racing have introduced their new 5-spoke rims for M-class touring cars such as the ones of Tamiya and Xpress. Of a realistic design the rims are moulded using a hard plastic compound which helps to extract more performance and grip from a tyre. The rims are usable with most M-class rubber tyres, they fit all M-class touring cars with 12mm hex wheel adapters and are available as 4-piece packs in black or white colour.

Coming soon from Sweep are their new EXP-24S touring car rubber tyres for the use in low “winter” temperatures. Making use of the EXP-R2 carcass, the new 24S compound excels especially in low ambient and track temperatures and despite being on the very soft side, it provides consistent performance without a drop in performance toward the end of a run. The tyres come in sets of four, premounted on white dish wheels and including inserts.

Leadfinger Racing have introduced their Tactic A2.1 body shell for the new Tekno RC NB48 2.0 buggy. First introduced in mid 2019, the A2.1 Tactic body design form has proven it self on the track with a handful of different platforms. For the NB48 2.0 the designers had to adapt the A2.1 design to the buggy’s unique layout with these differences resulting in widening the cab and adding to the size of the side pod scoops for clearance. To keep performance in check, additional downforce was added to the rear of the side pods and rear centre of the body. The cab is topped off with a shark fin for stability and to finish off the design a front scoop was added. The body is available now and it includes window masks and a sticker sheet.

The car builds on an aircraft-grade billet aluminium tub style chassis for the ultimate in lightweight, low COG, integral strength, single piece no tweak design. The signature ultra low profile aircraft-grade aluminium 5-gear transmission housing makes for optimised weight distribution with lowered idlers, lowered layshaft and unique no tower “A” frame design, for a hugely lowering COG. JConcepts have announced their Ellipse 1/8th buggy and truggy tyres are now also available in Blue, Green and Aqua compounds. The Ellipse, named after the center bar built into the tread, is a compliment to successful tyres such as the Dirt Webs and Bar Codes. The “Web” style tyre was built to compete on smooth high-grip indoor and outdoor surfaces which require a finely detailed connected bar pattern. The centre section of the tyre is a home run utilising a diamond “home plate” footprint to provide massive forward bite and increased longevity. The web of extensions are unique and have a directional touch giving the racer the ultimate tune-ability. The buggy tyre fits all standard 1/8th buggy rims while the truggy variant was developed for 1/8th 4.0” truck rims.
